Truckies promote Dubbo
The NSW city of Dubbo has "hit the road" with an innovative idea to promote the region's tourist and lifestyle offerings to potentially thousands of travellers up and down the eastern seaboard.
As part of a joint venture between Dubbo City Council and local transport companies, a number of big rigs will be promoting Dubbo's attractions on their runs as part of a five-year deal.
Dubbo City Council teamed with three local transport companies: Rod Pilon Transport; Thompson Brothers Transport and Robert Holmes Transport, to promote the City's iconic qualities.
"Thompson Brothers is very happy to donate the space on our truck curtains to promote Dubbo to road users. This truck will drive across NSW, VIC and QLD and be seen by thousands of people every year," Mr Thompson said.
The cost of the curtains, which act as travelling billboards, was covered by Dubbo City Council as part of their Promotions Plan to lift the profile of the regional NSW City.
"I've been operating Robert Holmes Transport out of Dubbo for over 40 years and the City has been very supportive to us during this time and I was more than happy to donate one of my Truck Curtains to Dubbo to show my support" Mr Holmes said.
One of the eye-catching designs displays a close-up of a giraffe and wording that depicts Taronga Western Plains Zoo, which is synonymous with Dubbo and one of the top reasons people visit the City. The other two trucks feature images of local children.
Research shows Dubbo residents spend much less time commuting than their metro counterparts and therefore have more quality time to spend with their families. These designs portray that message, encapsulating Dubbo's unique, fun loving vibe, and promotes the City as an appealing place to live.
"We at Rod Pilon Transport are proud to be Dubbo-based businesses and to show our pride we wanted to give something back to the City. Promoting Dubbo in this way will help raise the City's profile and attract visitors," Mr Pilon said.
