Caterpillar unveils next-gen 140 Motor Grader
Caterpillar’s latest 140 LVR Motor Grader had been upgraded to Cat’s next generation platform, promising to meet hallmarks of efficiency, productivity and operator comfort ahead of its launch in early 2026.

“Over the years, customers have shown that the 140’s usefulness and flexibility have few limits,” said Pablo dos Santos, Global Product Application Specialist, Caterpillar.
“Its frame lends itself to easy transportation, and its power and performance have seen it put to work in everything from snow clearance to grading operations, in addition to its everyday use in roadbuilding and ditching.”
Dos Santos adds that the machine’s versatility, which has made it very popular with rental fleets, as well as government and municipal contracts, will be improved by moving it to the next generation platform.

Enhancing safety by increasing visibility, the new 140 Motor Grader features the same cab design as the successful 120 next gen models. Larger windows provide better visibility, ensuring better all-round views from the cab (including mouldboard and tyres), while a standard rearview camera augments direct lines of sight.
The camera feed is integrated into the operator’s 10-inch touchscreen, which also provides access to other next generation functions such as ‘Cat Grade’. A new seat takes advantage of the next gen cab’s foot space and hip room, offering a variety of adjustment settings to improve operator comfort and help reduce fatigue. The cab also features revised seatbelt and safety harness options.

Along with a proven design and reliability to lower operating costs, coupled with favourable fuel efficiency, the new 140 also features banked and centralised access checkpoints that make daily maintenance a breeze rather than a bind.
Caterpillar also claims the new 140 provides a ‘sweet spot’ in terms of power-to-weight ratio, plus excellent fuel consumption rates.
“There is a lot of good information collected so far from the multiple machines being tested around the world, with more than 40,000 hours accumulated so far,” dos Santos adds.
“The new Cat 140 also offers expanded technology capabilities, from simple features to improve operator’s comfort, like the stable blade, to fully calibrated 3D systems to help reduce the total cost of ownership.
“It’s exciting to see Caterpillar’s most popular motor grader model joining the Cat 120 Motor Grader in receiving next generation treatment. We expect it will only add to the machine’s popularity.”
