Hyundai's Robex 145CR-9 excavator
This new 14t excavator joined Hyundai's conventional 14 tonner, the R140LC-9 and the R140W-9 wheeled variation.
Hyundai believed it must address three core values so operators can work effectively and take pleasure in their work. The company aims to make it easy for operators to select their working style preferences, to give them the ability to operate fast and precisely and to allow high levels of performance. For owners there was a core value too. That is to make the machine as reliable and productive as possible.
The 145CR-9 therefore, like the whole Dash 9 series, was a new breed that enabled operators to adjust and set machine performance and comfort levels to their personal needs and preferences.
Preference nerve centre
The preference nerve centre is the dashboard cluster, complete with a multi-function 13cm colour LCD screen. It provides instant access to a wide choice of functions and checks such as a selection of power and work modes. Using the versatile User mode, the operator can customise engine speed, pump output, idle speed and other machine settings for the job at hand.
The hydraulics for the DA piping are controlled by an electronic flow regulator with a 2-stage relief valve. This allows operators to change oil flow rates for varying attachments at the push of a button from the cab. It also allows for significant flexibility where different attachments such as breakers and crushers can be interchanged and hydraulic flow rates set in either 1 or 2 pump modes.
To assist operators with the up-keep of machine servicing, maintenance timing schedules can be set at the push of a button on the cluster. It even provides pre-service and overdue service warning lights for added peace of mind. This new age cluster brings a large number of other diagnostic and reporting features to assist with the ongoing analysis and monitoring of the machine.
Cabin
Comfort level selection is given high priority with a fully adjustable suspension seat and the ability to set the arm-rests and joysticks to the preferred position and height.
All Dash 9 series operators will benefit from having full control over the cabin temperature with the standard, high capacity climate control system, and a built-in radio/MP3/CD player at their disposal, with remote control, to create the ideal working atmosphere.
The operator's view on the worksite has been further improved by using new, slimmer but stronger, low stress/high strength steel tube for the cab structure, which in turn allows low cut and larger windows.
Furthermore, the Dash 9 series cabin allows the operator to concentrate fully on the job at hand, in a 'stress less' environment, thanks to special low noise upholstery and low vibration cabin mounts.
Pleasurable performance
The third key element in realising operator pleasure is the machine's overall performance, which is dependent on the available engine and hydraulic power. Operators are then able to apply that power effectively.
The 145CR-9 uses the latest turbocharged, charge air cooled Mitsubishi Tier III D04FD-TAA diesel engine. Electronically controlled for optimum fuel to air ratios, its clean, efficient combustion, makes it economical and quiet. Features include auto engine overheat and anti-restart.
Other factors which have a bearing on both reliability and maintenance costs include the use of high quality components, with 1000 hour maintenance intervals for hydraulic oil filters coupled with centralised lubrication points, more efficient cooling and integrated preheating systems to extend service intervals.
Top hydraulic performance is assured from powerful, industry leading, Kawasaki designed piston pumps, coupled with a new compact solenoid block, equipped with 3 solenoid valves, 1 EPPR valve, 1 check valve accumulator and line filter controls.
Hi mate!
It sounds peculiarly Aussie, but in fact Hyundai's GPS technology based Hi-mate remote management system is on the larger Dash 9 series machines (from the R140LC-9 model and larger) in Australia. It is there to help owners safeguard and monitor their investments by facilitating machine tracking. It monitors the location of machines at any time or anywhere, thus reassuring owners their machines are still making money. With Hi-mate it is now possible to remotely access enhanced self-diagnostic features, check operating hours, fuel levels and pinpoint the exact position of an owners' Hyundai fleet.
Ease of maintenance
The location of the MCV and hydraulic controls has been significantly modified to improve accessibility for service and maintenance purposes. In older models, these critical components were located in hard to reach positions in the centre of the machine. The designers of the R145CR-9 have improved the practicality for end users by remotely locating these components at the front end of the machine. By opening just one panel, the MCV and hydraulic controls can be serviced efficiently.
