Hino to honour Vic firefighters at Brisbane Truck Show
The truck, a 4WD 500 Series GT, will bolster the CFA's fire fighting resources, which have been tested by another dangerous summer fire season.
Hino Australia President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Lotter said presenting the truck to the anticipated 40,000 attendees at the Brisbane Truck Show was Hino's way of paying tribute to the CFA's efforts to protect rural communities in Victoria.
"The CFA and its 60,000 volunteers protect more than 3.3 million Victorians from the effects of Australia's natural disasters - not just bushfires," Mr Lotter said. "It's an honour for us to feature the milestone of the CFA's thousandth Hino vehicle at the Brisbane Truck Show."
In addition to the CFA truck, the Hino stand at the Brisbane Truck Show will display its latest diesel/electric Hybrid technologies. It will showcase a detailed breakdown of its Hybrid system, which can deliver substantial reductions in both fuel use and CO2 emissions when compared with conventional diesel technology.
New gearbox options will also be on display, such as the ProShift automated manual transmissions introduced last year to the FC and FD 500 Series models. Much like their car equivalents, the automated manual transmissions are designed to combine the favourable fuel economy and durability of a manual with the ease of operation of a traditional torque-converter automatic.
Guests at the show will also be able to experience the highlights from Hino's successful 2013 Dakar Rally, with a video from this year's event highlighting Hino's fourth consecutive class win. This year Hino also recorded its 13th Dakar victory in the under 10-litre class since the race began in 1991, with Teruhito Sugawara's 7.7-litre GT finishing 19th overall in a field of 75 competitors, most in trucks powered by engines with almost twice the displacement.
In welcome news for truck drivers, roadside assistance is now available in the truck market, with Hino outlining its new program for all 2013-plated Hino trucks at the Brisbane Truck Show. The Roadside Assist program is designed to get drivers back on the road after a breakdown or flat tyre, or even if they simply run out of fuel.
Hino's stand at the Brisbane Truck Show will also present Hino's Maintenance Agreement program. Launched at the beginning of the year, the program is designed to provide complete maintenance of Hino trucks at a fixed price, alleviating the stress of a large or unexpected service bill.
The 2013 Brisbane Truck Show is on at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 16 to 19.
Tickets to the show are available at www.brisbanetruckshow.com.au or from Ticketek.
