CASE IH Puma meets Harley Davidson in exclusive offer
Case IH Tractor Product Manager Tim Fanning explains the Harley Davison offer is a rare opportunity for prospective purchasers.
"We've secured additional supply of these large frame Puma CVT models from overseas markets and decided to do something really special. If I was planning to purchase a new tractor, the thought of getting a free Harley as part of the deal would be tough to pass up," he said.
The Case IH Puma CVT provides the ultimate in smooth, stepless shifting, making it the ideal choice for farmers in demanding operations ranging from sugar cane haul out to broad acre, row crop and even dairy.
Likewise, the Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883 XL883N motorcycle is an icon of its industry. Described as a "blacked out bruiser" offering an "authentic ride", the Iron 883 features a black powder coated 883cc engine that gives performance to match its looks.
Case IH's Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) can be chosen on the Puma 165, 180, 195 and 210 tractor models and is standard on the range-topping model, the Puma 225.
"Case IH CVT technology automatically selects the best gear ratio for your desired speed. So you don't have to clutch or shift gears. Just set your speed and the computer finds the sweet spot between power and fuel efficiency. It's simple, intuitive, easy to operate and most efficient when you really need it - working at field speeds. In addition, the transmission is designed so that 50 kph can be achieved at a smooth and quiet 1550 engine rpm, leading to reduced fuel consumption," said Tim.
The Puma CVT also includes additional features such as Diesel Saver Automatic Productivity Management (APM) logic and ActiveStop technology.
APM automatically selects the optimal combination of engine and transmission speeds to further save fuel and improve productivity, making it ideal for use in broad acre and spray operations. Hay baling operations also benefit from the Puma's ActiveStop feature, which holds the tractor and load perfectly stationary, even on steep inclines, without the need to use clutch and brakes.
"For dairy and cane operations, the Puma's excellent visibility and tight turning radius of just 6.1m is a standout feature," said Tim. "If you add to this the Puma's excellent row crop clearance, and class leading power-to-weight ratio, it's easy to see why it's considered one of the most versatile tractors around."
The new Puma 225 has maximum engine power of 185 kW available in transport and non-static PTO applications such as baling.
Serviceability has also been considered, with the CVT transmission retaining the time-proven cartridge design, which allows part of the transmission to be removed without pulling the tractor apart.
